Community group thanks water company for dishwasher

04 October 2008

Dishwasher donationA community group has publicly thanked Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water (BWHW) after it donated a dishwasher for a new café.

The company also arranged for AquaCare, its property services and maintenance arm, to install the eco-friendly appliance at the West Howe Community Café in Cunningham Road.

Lisa Williams, Chair of West Howe Investing in People (WHIPs), said that without the water company's help - and the generous assistance of many other firms - the community project would probably never have got off the ground.

"We're very grateful to BWHW and all the firms who have so generously donated equipment for the café," she said.

Tony Cooke, BWHW's Managing Director, said: ""We have worked with WHIPs for several years providing debt advice to the local community and setting up convenient and easy pay options for water charges through their drop-in shop.

"The cafe is a new initiative aimed at creating more community spirit and interaction.  We wish it every success."

The West Howe Community Café was officially opened in July and serves a range of hot food and snacks. It is staffed entirely by volunteers.
