The freezing weather has resulted in an “unprecedented” number of calls to Christchurch-based property services and maintenance firm AquaCare.
The company, which is owned by Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water, dealt with 1,500 customer calls last week.
The emergencies ranged from boiler breakdowns to burst pipes with the number of calls up 50 per cent on the same week in 2009.
The call centre was also open on Saturday morning when staff received 81 emergency calls.
Simon Booth, AquaCare’s Managing Director, said: “We have received an unprecedented number of calls from customers and our staff – both in the call centre and out on the road – have been working flat out.
“The cold weather has been a huge challenge and I take my hat off to the AquaCare team for the way they have responded.”
