CYCLISTS planning to visit all 26 fire stations in Dorset in just 24 hours will have plenty of bottle thanks to Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water (BWHW).

The company is providing water bottles for the riders who will be setting off from Christchurch fire station at midday on Saturday June 12.

They will then cycle as far south as Portland, as far west as Lyme Regis and as far north as Gillingham before finishing at Ferndown fire station the following day – a distance of 230 miles.

Proceeds from the Dorset Fire Bike Ride will be going to three charities – Help 4 Heroes, The Firefighters Charity and The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.

Entry is limited to 120 riders with about 80 so far registered to take part. They include Simon Booth, Managing Director of AquaCare, the Christchurch-based property services and maintenance firm which is a sister company to BWHW.

Lee McCumiskey, who is jointly organising the charity ride with fellow firefighters Martin Mansbridge and Faris Mani, said: “We’re very grateful to Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water, and all our other sponsors, for their tremendous support.”

Roger Harrington, BWHW’s Managing Director, said: “This will be a great achievement for those taking part and in aid of very good causes.

“We are happy to be able to provide drinking bottles so that the riders can keep hydrated with high quality tap water as they make their way around the county.”
